Your cleaners arrive after hours — but how do you know the work actually happened? A signed nightly checklist is the simplest accountability tool in facility management. Here is what a good one covers.
1. Zone-by-zone tasks
Break the building into zones — lobby, floors, kitchens, washrooms — with specific tasks per zone. Vague lines like 'clean office' hide missed details; 'vacuum open floor, wipe meeting tables, empty bins' do not.
2. Sign-off with a name and time
Every visit should be signed by the crew lead with a timestamp. That record is what lets your account manager spot patterns and fix them before you notice.
3. A clear redo promise
Ask what happens when something is missed. We return within 24 hours, free — and the checklist is the proof either way.
If your current vendor cannot show you last week's checklists, that tells you everything.
